Spilling might seem like a minor inconvenience when it ruins your morning coffee, but it causes big problems in various industries. Imagine the consequences of uncontrolled liquid movement in large cargo ships, aerospace vehicles, or road tankers; such situations could lead to serious safety risks and structural damages.

What is sloshing?

Sloshing is the movement of liquid in a partly filled container, often causing spills or splashes. Think of carrying a cup of coffee around your house. If you stop suddenly or make a quick turn, the coffee won't stay still; it'll move around and might spill.

In technical terms, sloshing happens when external forces like speeding up, slowing down, or changing direction disturb the liquid's surface, causing it to move. For instance, sloshing is a big issue for liquid natural gas (LNG) transport ships.
